Just in case the title doesn’t say it all, let me clarify: this anime really is about an angel who can club people to death. That said, it is more cute than gory, and more amusing than you’d probably imagine unless your brain’s on the darker side of things, in which case you’d imagine it’d be fucking hilarious (which it is). Honestly, I’m pretty shocked that more lovers of weird anime haven’t been talking about this one. It’s been around for a while now and I still find that even the most devoted anime junkies haven’t heard of it. It’s a short series with only 8 13 min. episodes (technically) in 4 installments. The series itself is plenty unpredictable, starring Dokuro the original club to death angel (with a bitchin’ character design) as well as other angels (with equally strange roles) popping up just as you start to get bored. The main character, Sakura Kusakabe, a second year High School Student, is caught in the middle of the angelic chaos, not to mention all the other things a normal school-aged kid has to deal with. Some of the scenes are a little on the steamy side, so I don’t recommend this one for the kiddies. However, I can’t stop any of you filthy teenagers out there from watching it. That’s your parents’ job. Oh, and also best theme song ever: pipiru piru piru pipiru pi!
